By Vanesa Garcia-Ribala Montoya
Fuego is a physical, spirited quartet for male dancers. Vanesa G.R. Montoya draws inspiration from her Spanish roots in bringing to this work the style and energy of the matador and the sensuality of flamenco.
Passion in all states and at all stages is at the center of Fuego. “Passion is a driving force of life,” explains Montoya, “whether it’s the fire inside us or the intensity of our relationships. It’s omnipresent.” Sensuality, energy and intense physical engagement are all part of this contemporary acrobatic yet fluid piece, performed to traditional Spanish music.
