Les Grands Ballets Canadiens are sad to learn about the passing of Jeanne Renaud. An important figure of dance in Canada, a dancer and a choreographer, this great lady was a pioneer in modern dance. She greatly contributed to the development of contemporary dance in the country, especially as a co-founder and co-artistic director of Groupe de la Place Royale from 1966 to 1972.
Co-artistic director of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens from 1985 to 1987 alongside Lynda Stearns, she associated the company with great names of contemporary dance in Montreal, such as Ginette Laurin (Tango Accelerando), Paul-André Fortier (Le Mythe décisif) and Lynda Rabbin (Stone Witness).
