During this workshop, presented over two days on September 11 and 12, 2021, Hana Kamea and Jessica Houghton have focused on how to set up and run a private practice in dance therapy. The panellists have shared their own experiences and paths, led embodied explorations of the topics discussed and left space for the participants to reflect and exchange with the group.
The event has been divided in two parts, presented on two different days: a first workshop has been devoted to the process of establishing a private practice, from selecting one’s field of specialization to identifying the best marketing tools to integrating dance therapy into other therapeutic practices. The second part has instead focused on the practical side of managing a private practice, which includes drafting therapeutic contracts, using touch, establishing safety protocols, and maintaining a balance between private and professional life.
