The work developed by Rudolf Laban and Irmgard Bartenieff has a vast vocabulary of movement. It reveals the many ways in which the body can express itself and move through space, respecting dynamic alignments and connections. The supplementary workshop explores the concepts of movement analysis, focusing on analysis, body awareness and expression.
Foundations of the Laban-Bartenieff method: We begin with a brief history and presentation of the fundamental principles of the Laban-Bartenieff System, highlighting the pioneering work of Rudolf Laban and Irmgard Bartenieff.
Body exploration and body awareness: In this part of the workshop, participants are guided through basic exercises designed to develop their body awareness. Exercises aim to listen to body signals, identify tensions and release dormant movement potential. The techniques explored are accompanied by theoretical explanations of anatomy and physiology. Breathing techniques are suggested to encourage a deeper relationship with the body.
Movement analysis and observation: In this section, participants learn to observe interoceptively (i.e. from inside the body and based on sensations) and through observation of another person. They develop observation skills, breaking down movements into their basic components. Identifying recurring patterns is part of the learning process.
Practical applications: Finally, the workshop explores practical applications and opportunities for integrating the Laban-Bartenieff system.
The Laban-Bartenieff method workshop offers an enriching experience enabling participants to deepen their understanding of movement, improve their body awareness and explore new possibilities of expression.
