Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840 - 1893) is a Russian composer, recognized as one of the greatest figures of Russian romanticism. His work embraces many genres and is often of occidental inspiration. He has composed operas, symphonies, suites, concertos and is known for creating world-renowned pieces for the ballet. His works in the world of dance are the famous scores of The Nutcracker, Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty.
