This class, designed for preteens and teens ages 9 to 14 living with Down syndrome or an intellectual disability, draws inspiration from creative dance and musical theatre. It supports the development of body expression, creativity, and self-confidence through improvisation exercises and choreographic creation. Participants explore movement, dance, and the performing arts while discovering different movement qualities, rhythms, and directions.
The main goal is to foster self-expression and well-being in a safe and inclusive environment. Each class is led by two facilitators of the National Centre for Dance Therapy, who are experts in dance and in supporting diverse populations.

"I wanted him to be in a positive and familiar environment. Before, when he was dancing at home, he was hiding. Now, if we go to his room while he’s dancing, he lets us watch. He also expresses himself more freely, even though he’s still shy."
- Mom of a participant
