For the third consecutive year, the National Centre for Dance Therapy (NCDT) is proud to offer dance and arts summer camps for young people on the autism spectrum.
This year, as a result of the public health situation, the NCDT has decided to adapt the program to offer virtual activities to the participants. The participants will benefit from two artistic workshops per day, offered live through Zoom.
Designed specifically for autistic teenagers, these activities use dance, music, visual arts, and more, to develop the creativity of the participants, improve their self-esteem and self-awareness and stimulate the creation of interpersonal relationships.
Thanks to the support of the Public Health Agency of Canada these camps are completely free.
To make the most of these activities, we will send the participants a suprise box by mail!
Registrations are now closed.
All the adapted dance classes will be offered by Émilie Barrette, dance professor and dance therapy intern.
Émilie is a graduate of the École supérieure de ballet du Québec (ESBQ) and of the college program at Ballet Divertimento.
She has completed a Bachelor in Communications and History at the Montréal University, as well as the Alternate Route program of the NCDT. She has also begun a Master’s in Dance at the Université du Québec à Montréal, to further develop her adapted dance practice. Always on the lookout for new learning opportunities, she is always eager to participate to continuous education trainings in dance and dance education, in Montreal and elsewhere, as, for instance, the Adaptive Dance Teachers Training of the Boston Ballet. Émilie has had the privilege of leading various NCDT projects with children, teenagers and adults on the spectrum or with an intellectual disability.
Since 2020 Emilie has taught the leisure programs and junior classes at the ESBQ. She has also participated in The Nutcracker production as the children’s instructor.
