The National Center for Dance Therapy (NCDT), the Centre de recherche, d'innovation et de transfert en arts du cirque (CRITAC) and the Cirque Hors Piste (CHP) join forces to offer co-development training on the theme of the living arts for social change.
CRITAC's mission is to advance human potential and performance through applied research and innovation. They develop applied research projects and provides technical assistance, information and training to people working in the field of live arts and human performance.
CHP is an organization dedicated to social circus, offering an alternative and inclusive creative space for marginalized young people or those at risk of exclusion. They use the circus arts to offer these young people an alternative path to personal development, with artistic and social support to help them move forward and blossom as citizens.
The Art Social training program is for teachers of the performing arts, artists and social workers. The program focuses on the global context of art as a tool for social transformation. This intensive two-day course is designed to enrich the practical experience of artist facilitators who work to improve the quality of life of vulnerable people with presence and connection.
Focusing on the posture taken by the artist-facilitator, the trainers will draw on their field experience to provoke reflection and awareness among participants. Through experiential exercises, participants will be challenged to challenge themselves, exchange ideas and demonstrate creativity and openness.
Topics covered : Posture in motion, the role of the artist and the intervener, ethics and managing limits, strategies and impacts of social art, opportunities and challenges of intervention through art.
4 blocks in two days: self, tandem, participants and community
Experiential learning is the pedagogical approach favored in this training program. This approach proposes concrete learning situations while emphasizing the participation and knowledge of participants. The trainer acts as both facilitator and expert. The right balance between practical exercise, movement experience, exchange between participants and theory.
The training is given by Marilou Vinet, intervention coordinator at Cirque Hors Piste, as well as Émilie Barrette, head of dance therapy at Les Grands Ballets' National Centre for Dance Therapy, and Emmanuel Bochud, social circus trainer and director of development and innovation at CRITAC.
Schedule: January 10 and 11, 2025, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Participants wishing to register commit to attending the workshop from start to finish, and must therefore be available for both days. Participants will also be invited to a panel session on Sunday January 12 on the concept of artistic transfer (details to follow).
