On April 18, Les Grands Ballets, in collaboration with Studios GB, launched the very first edition of the Dance-a-thon, a fundraising initiative benefitting the National Centre for Dance Therapy (NCDT), which promotes well-being through movement.
For an entire day, participants of all skill levels took part in classes held in the very studios where the company’s dancers rehearse and work every day, in a friendly and energizing atmosphere. Classical ballet, jazz, contemporary dance, flamenco, and a mobility and strength-building class set the pace for this experience, driven by the desire to push one’s limits and immerse oneself in the world of dance.
As the day went by, the challenge took on both a physical and a human dimension. The event allowed participants to discover firsthand the rhythm, the demands, and the energy of the artists’ work, and to live, for a day, an experience close to a professional dancer’s daily training. It was also an opportunity for meaningful encounters, in a spirit of sharing and solidarity. The event ended with a short performance by the challenge course group.
Thank you to our participants, donors, partners, and the dancers and teachers who generously took part in the event: Chanelle Allaire, Chantal Dauphinais, Tetyana Martyanova, Vanesa G-R Montoya, Felixovich Morante, Anaïs Roy, Calista Shepheard, Rocio Vadillo, and Vahé Yegoyan.
You can still make an online donation to the NCDT until May 15.
