In 2016, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens joined Exeko, via the Group of the Eleven, to contribute to an ambitious project combining research and intervention, Inclusive Culture Lab, to promote accessibility to the cultural field. The project partners are the Group of the Eleven, which brings together the eleven main cultural institutions in Montreal, including Les Grands Ballets, and nine community organizations.
Under the patronage of the Canadian Commission for UNESCO, this innovative project uses inclusive research methods with over sixty co-researchers from a variety of backgrounds who collaborate to the redaction of a Charter of Cultural Accessibility, identifying the best inclusion practices.
The writing process of the Charter, which was completed over three years, will culminate in autumn 2019 with a Forum, which will bring together all those who participated in the research process and those who, due to their expertise in the field or their artistic or political engagement, would like to join the discussion.
Based on the research results, which included an in-depth analysis of cultural institutions practices as well as outing and mediation workshops, and elements collected during the co-writing workshops, participants will be invited give recommendations which will be included in the Charter.
If you wish to join the Forum on October 8, 2019, to define together the best inclusive practices in the cultural field, please contact Exeko.
