The winner of several international awards, baritone Dominique Côté is praised by audiences and critics alike for his warm voice and moving interpretations.
His first solo album Amour et Fantaisies, mélodies de Lionel Daunais, produced by ATMA Classique, received enthusiastic acclaim from both the public and critics, and was nominated for Recording of the Year at the 2022 Gala des Prix Opus.
His discography includes several world premieres: Louis Beydts's La SADMP with the Avignon-Provence Orchestra, Paolo Lorenzani's Nicandro e Fileno with Les Boréades, Germaine Tailleferre's L'Affaire Tailleferre with the Limoges Opera, Gavaux’s Léonore with Opéra Lafayette, Boismortier's Don Quichotte chez la Duchesse with Ensemble Caprice, as well as two recordings of the title role in André Gagnon's opera Nelligan with the OSM and for ATMA Classique.
Among his notable performances are the title role in Nelligan for numerous companies, La Comtesse in Les Feluettes at Edmonton Opera, Dr. Falke and Eisenstein in Strauss's Die Fledermaus in Montreal, Quebec City, Tours, and Geneva, Gérard in the world premiere of Messe Solennelle pour une pleine lune d'été at the Quebec Opera Festival. He has also performed Handel's Messiah and Orff's Carmina Burana extensively. He was also a guest artist with Les Cowboys Fringants and the OSM for their numerous sold-out concerts, with a recent live album nominated for Francophone Album of the Year at the JUNO Awards.
He has sung under the baton of conductors such as Kent Nagano, Hervé Niquet, Christophe Rousset, Théodore Guschlbauer, Jacques Lacombe, Nicolas Ellis, Matthias Maute, Alexander Weimann, Jean-Marie Zeitouni, Thomas Le Duc-Moreau, performing a repertoire ranging from baroque to contemporary, with a particular affinity for French and Quebecois music of all eras.
