Marcel Gutiérrez was born in Cuba in 2001. At eight years old, he started taking private ballet lessons and in 2010 he was admitted at the Cuban National Ballet School where he studied eight years and graduated as a professional dancer. In 2019 he joined the National Ballet Company of Cuba as corps de ballet and got promoted as soloist in 2021. He joined Les Grands Ballets Canadiens in 2023 and was promoted to demi-soloist in 2024.
Prizes in international competitions in Havana: 3rd place - Children's Category, Free Variation (2014), 3rd place - Youth Category, Variations Modality, classical variation and free variation (2015), 3rd place - Intermediate Category (2017), 2nd place - Choreographic contest (2018), 1st place - Advanced category - Pas de Deux Tchaikovsky and variations classic Giselle and Don Quixote (2019).
