Catherine Toupin was accepted at the École Supérieure de Ballet du Québec at the age of ten, and it was there that her professional training began.
In the course of her schooling she had the chance to dance in a number of ballet excerpts onstage, such as George Balanchine’s Diamonds and Episodes; Fernand Nault’s The Nutcracker; Marius Petipa’s La Bayadère, Swan Lake and Giselle; and Michel Fokine’s Les Sylphides.
She has taken part on three occasions in the Fondation de la Place des Arts event Future Stars’ Grand Premiere, including this past June when she danced the pas de deux from Giselle with Raphaël Bouchard. She was also part of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens’ The Nutcracker, Vendetta and Giselle during the last season. Catherine’s childhood dream will at last come true when she becomes a fulltime member of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens for the 2019-2020 season.
