Andrea de Almeida is a Board-Certified Dance/Movement Therapist (BC-DMT) holding a master's degree in Physical Education and Recreation, with a specialization in Dance Education from the University of Alberta. She has also completed coursework at New York University. She is deeply passionate about dance therapy and its impact on well-being.
She has worked with a wide range of populations, including adolescents experiencing eating disorders and trauma, children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), caregivers, and older adults, both those living with various health conditions and those in good health. She has practiced at the NCDT and collaborated with several clinical institutions across the Montreal area.
More recently, she joined the Montreal health and social services system, where she works as a dance therapist supporting adults living with physical and intellectual disabilities. She has also contributed to numerous research projects, presented at international conferences, and published in academic journals.
