Andrea de Almeida is a Certified Dance/Movement Therapist (R-DMT), with a Master's Degree in Physical and Recreational Education, specializing in Dance Education from the University of Alberta, and has also taken courses at New York University. She is deeply passionate about dance therapy and its impact on well-being. She has worked with many populations, including adolescent girls with eating disorders and trauma, children with spectrum disorders, caregivers, and seniors with various health conditions or no specific condition. These community projects have been implemented by NCDT in collaboration with several clinical institutions in the Montreal area. As a certified therapist, she has continued to lead groups of seniors at the National Centre for Dance Therapy for the past nine years.
In addition, she has developed her private practice for individuals and groups, both online and face-to-face in Montreal.More recently, she has held a position within the Montreal health and social services system, working as a dance therapist with adults with physical and intellectual disabilities. She has also contributed to numerous research projects, presented at international conferences and published in academic journals. In addition, she has led several workshops and participated in numerous media events to promote and defend dance therapy in Montreal. She is a member of the ADTA, DMTAC and AATQ associations.
