In December, when magic and sweets from The Nutcracker adorn the Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier, it is due to the talent of countless artists and craftsmen and women. Costumes especially, with the experience, knowledge and preciseness of our Workshop team, help us transport the whole familiy to this wonderful world. Here are some statistics to illustrate all the hard work behind the somptuous garments worn by the artists on stage.
•More than 400 costumes will be used only during The Nutcracker production.
•A team of more or less 20 full-time workers will repair and prepare each costume before each show.
•Making the King of Candy Land's costume from scratch would cost $15 000, the shoes only would be $700.
•A tutu with corsage is worth approximately $5000, making it one of the most valuable costumes. Those range between $2000 and 5000$.
•For one season of The Nutcracker, $190 000 will be spent in reparations on the costumes.
